Have you ever been bar hopping? If you don’t know what bar hopping is, you are a brainless idiot and you should stop reading my blog now.

Anyway, I don’t know about you, but I think bar hopping is awesome. If you’ve never realized why people really enjoy bar hopping, I will let you in on a little secret. The question is, when do you have more fun? When you go to a bar/club sober? Or… when you crawl in sloshed to the degree that in 10 minutes a pregnant Brazilian horse would shit on your new Diesel shoes and you wouldn’t care enough to stop sticking your tongue down the throat of a redhead that you accidentally picked up on the dancefloor? (oops run-on sentence). Clearly, the latter…
Well, when you bar hop, you dramatically increase your chances of achieving the latter, hence, the chances of having more fun as well. See, the first bar, you enter as sober as a Norwegian priest, you will leave with a blood-alcohol level of a Russian truck driver. The second bar you will leave thinking that you should go there more often, since the women are surprisingly prettier there. Eventually, you reach a point when you walk into a new bar and find it to be the best joint on this God forgotten planet. Girls seems to be hotter, drinks cheaper, and your ego bigger then ever. It’s a perfect combination that the bartenders at the previous bars carefully mixed together.
Well, it turns out that European fun seekers take it to the next level. Why stop at just bar hopping? Why not country hop as well? At least that’s what I’ve learned while visiting my friend, who works in small town an hour South-East of Zurich.
The town is called Buchs and it’s located on the border of Switzerland with Liechtenstein and Austria. My day there started with us going for lunch and some afternoon shopping in an Austrian town of Feldkirch. I liked that we woke up in the morning, jumped into my friend’s Volkswagen and 10 minutes later we were in Liechtenstein. Another 10 minutes and we were in Schwarzenegger-land brunching at a Chinese restaurant. That’s called country hopping, baby! No visa required!
Now, put bar hopping in your one hand and country hopping in another. Squeeze your hands together and you get what people out here do in one night. I got a little taste of that pie as well and it tastes good!
We start the night at a cozy lounge in Switzerland. After an hour there, we meet some people, who invite us to join them at a club in Liechtenstein. 10 minutes later and we are at a thumping 80′s party in a club called Beat which is full of wasted, dressed-up Liechtensteinians. Another hour passes by and our newly made friends decide to go to some new place. At this point we are too exhausted. Turns out, country-bar hopping can be pretty draining. We get outside and realize that we left our car back in Switzerland. A thought regarding the expensiveness of a cross-country taxi ride crosses our minds. Luckily, we meet two random dudes outside the club:
- Are you going to Buchs?
- Buchs, as in Switzerland?
- Yeah!
- No, but hop in, we’ll give you a ride.
