All of you Family Guy lovers out there probably know that Fox is coming out with a spin-off to Family Guy, which revolves around the life of one of the secondary Family Guy characters – Cleveland Brown. The show is also created by MacFarlane, who even voices one of the characters. If this is news to you, you can read more about it on wikipedia here.

The show is said to premiere on September 27th, but it seems like the Pilot for it has already been leaked. It’s currently available for viewing on Ninja Video, which I conveniently embedded below.

While it’s hard to judge how well the show will perform from the very first episode, some thing are definitely evident. It doesn’t seem as funny as FG just yet, but some characters definitely have potential to be hilarious. First of all, Rallo, who is the five-year-old son of Cleveland’s new wife Donna Tubbs, cracks a couple of funny eccentric jokes. Then there is a bear, Tim, who is Cleveland’s neighbor. The bear has a hysterical Austrian or Polish accent, and he is the character voiced by MacFarlane.

It’s interesting to notice that, in general, the character line-up of the show highly resembles that of FG itself. After all, Cleveland’s new family consists of an overweight son, a daughter with lots of issues and a younger son, who is too smart for his age. Sound familiar? Moreover, the bear seems to be an attempt to create a new Brian. While it might sound like cheating, this similarity to Family Guy could simply be a effort to make the spin-off more appealing to the fans of the original show.

Overall, I’d have to say the Cleveland Show is not as funny as it could be. It will definitely never get to the level of Family Guy. However, with enough work the Fox writers can turn it into a decent show that I would gladly watch in between the new Family Guy episodes.

Well, that’s my opinion. Now, get yours by watching the clip below and post here what you think.
