This past week I was spending some time in San Diego with a bunch of friends. We rented a condo in Mission Beach literally 2 minutes from the boardwalk and the beach itself. The whole trip was spectacular. We tanned, went kayaking, enjoying the San Diego zoo, partied hard at the beach bars and had many other entertaining adventures. However, one of the most memorable moments for me personally was a short longboarding session that I had on the long stretch of the Mission Beach boardwalk.

When I was packing for the trip, I thought multiple times about bringing along my longboard or Freelines, but in the end I decided against it. I didn’t want to check-in a bag, and my carry-on suitcase was pretty small. I always knew, I was gonna regret that decision, but my laziness won on that one.

As soon as I walked up to the boardwalk, I realized that almost every 5th person there was riding either a longboard or a skateboard. It felt like I caught the boarders in their natural habitat. And believe me, I was soooo jealous. Longboarding along the beach seemed so natural, and I just couldn’t believe I was missing out. Luckily, after some walking around we found a place to rent some boards called “Mission Beach Surf & Skate”. For 12$ I got myself a pretty solid Sector 9, which gave me 2 hours of utter satisfaction. The sun was shining. The wind was blowing into my face. The air was filled with the sounds of ocean waves crashing onto a sandy beach. It was beautiful. Here is a quick video. Judge for yourself.

P.S. The condo we rented is this one. I highly recommend it to anyone, who is vacationing in San Diego.
